Knowing when to pray is not optional — it is inseparable from the prayer itself. The Quran states clearly:

The Hanafi school says it enters when the shadow is twice the object's length. This can result in a difference of 45–60 minutes in some locations.

Maghrib enters immediately after sunset — the moment the sun's upper disc disappears below the horizon.

Isha enters when the red twilight disappears from the sky (roughly 60–90 minutes after Maghrib). In high latitudes during summer, this can become a special challenge.
